Men's soccer team faces Salt Lake CC for Group C title

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team will play Salt Lake Community College for the Group C title at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament today in Wichita, Kansas.

Both teams are 1-0 at the national tournament and the winner will advance to the national tournament semifinals on Thursday evening.

Eastern Florida State College beat Murray State 2-1 as Luc Achermann-Stanfield and Stephen Gilbert each scored in the final 10 minutes of the contest. It was the second straight game that Achermann-Stanfield has scored a goal and the fourth time in the past five contests. The sophomore now has eight goals to go with his team-leading 19 assists.

Gilbert scored his seventh goal of the season on Monday night.

Salt Lake beat Murray State in penalty kicks on Sunday after the two teams were tied 0-0 after 110 minutes. Salt Lake is the No. 3 seed in the tournament and is 16-1-2 on the season.

The two teams have not met since 2022 when the Titans won in overtime.

Tuesday's game will be the third of four games to decide the semifinals at Stryker Sports Complex. Fans can watch the game live on the NJCAA Network for $12 per game or $20 for the tournament. You can also follow the team all week on the EFSC Titans X page as well as at efsctitans.com
