Men's soccer player Danilo Orsi Dadomo enjoying record-setting season
Eastern Florida State College men's soccer player Danilo Orsi Dadomo has a school-record 15 goals this season
Danilo Orsi Dadomo walked off the soccer field at Titan Soccer Complex Friday night as Eastern Florida State College's all-time leading men's soccer goal scorer.
The sophomore from London, England scored 16 minutes into the game against Broward College, breaking his own single-season record with his 15th goal and now has a school-record 29 goals in his career.
But for Orsi Dadomo, it is about winning and so it was not surprising that he gave a quick wave to fans before going back to work in the 4-0 win over Broward College.
"I am just really happy I have been able to help this team. Last year we fell short and this year I want to go all the way and give the coaches something they deserve. It's not just us on the pitch working hard, they work hard 365 days a year and I really want to get it done for them and the family back home," Orsi Dadomo said.
After falling short of making the national tournament last season, Orsi Dadomo worked on getting better and it has shown this season with goals in all but three games this season and still has one more regular-season game at ASA Miami this week before the Titans begin the postseason.
"I spent most of the offseason in the gym, just working on my size and explosiveness. I felt like I lacked that at times last year and I think that has paid dividends, helping me score more goals this season," Orsi Dadomo said.
Orsi Dadomo has started in 23 of his career 28 games and has scored multiple goals in seven of those including four games in which he has scored three goals.
"He has a real competitive streak to him, all good strikers have to have a mean streak, they need to have that competitive edge, they want to score and win the match. That is Danilo," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said "Whenever you are in a 1v1 situation, you always fancy him coming out on top because of that desire he has to win."
The sophomore has helped the program win 21 games in two seasons and Twelvetrees believes this could be just the beginning for the talented forward.
"Over his career, he has been a fantastic addition to the team, he's led the line very well, been the leader on and off the pitch and his goals speak for themselves," Twelvetrees said. "He has been a major part of the success we have had over the past two years and I know he has his head screwed on right and he will go big places if he can just keep it up with a positive attitude."
