Men's golf team wins title at Seahawk Shootout
The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team won the overall title at the Seahawk Shootout Tuesday at Palm Beach Gardens
The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team won the Seahawk Shootout at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens on Tuesday.
The Titans shot even par in the final round to win the tournament by three strokes over Ave Maria. Eastern Florida State College finished the tournament 1-under for the tournament.
Host Keiser University placed third in the tournament.
"Awesome job by the team. Got off to another slow start and turned everything around in the final 12 holes," Eastern Florid State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said.
The team was at 7-over after the first six holes but found their shots after that and finished the final 12 holes 6-under as a team to finish even par.
Blake Hodges shot 1-under 71 in the final round to place sixth overall at even par for the tournament. Teammates Jamie Smith and Horace Pennix tied for seventh overall at 1-over par. Pennix shot even par in the final round while Smith struggled, shooting a 79.
Trey Farnsworth had his best round of the tournament, shooting an even par 72 and was tied for 14th overall. Daniel Byers shot a 73 in the final round.
Eastern Florida State College will play at the New College Fall Invitational on Sept. 23.
