The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team is in third place after the first two rounds of The Battle at the Shores
The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team sits in third place after the first two rounds of The Battle at the Shores event at Normandy Shores Golf Club in Miami Beach.
The Titans shot the second-best round of the afternoon in round 2 to jump into third place, six strokes behind Nova Southeastern and 10 strokes behind leader Barry University. Eastern Florida State College is the only Junior College in the tournament and seven NCAA Division II teams in the Top 25 of the Golfstat relative rankings.
Mathieu Echelard is tied for third place after shooting a 71 and a 69 for a 140 while Brad Bawden is tied for ninth with a 144. Teammate Fraser Davren is tied for 16th at 145.
"The guys played well in difficult conditions today. Normandy Shores is a demanding golf course and high winds and hole locations only added to the challenge," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "Mathieu Echelard was solid all day and Brad Bawden made a nice comeback this afternoon. Good consistent play from Fraser Davren and with a full team effort tomorrow we could make a run at Barry."
The final round of the tournament will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
