Men's basketball team heads to Georgia for Bobcat Classic
The Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team will head back to Georgia this weekend for a couple of games at the Bobcat Classic at East Georgia State College
The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team will head back to Georgia this weekend for the Bobcat Classic at East Georgia State College in Swainsboro, Ga.
The 10th-ranked Titans head into the weekend on a four-game win streak and are 7-1 on the season.
Freshman guard Felipe Patino is coming off a big game for the Titans as he scored 30 points and hit eight 3-pointers which ties him for second in program history. Teammate Emondrek Erkins-Ford leads the team averaging 15 points and 7.6 rebounds while Fredy-Salam Sylla and Corey Caulker are each averaging 14 points.
Eastern Florida State College will face South Georgia State College who are also 7-1 on the season but had their seven-game win streak snapped at Chipola College. The Hawks have three players averaging 12 points per game or more this season led by guard Justin McCarter who is averaging 17.4 points and has scored at least 11 points in every game this season. Teammates Devon Rainey is averaging 13.9 points while Amren Hoard is scoring 12.9 points per game.
Then on Saturday the Titans will face the hosts East Georgia State at 4 p.m. The Indians have won two of the last three and are 5-4 on the season. East Georgia State is coming off a win against USC Salkahatchie 89-77 behind Jalen Gallman's season-high 22 points as the guard is averaging 12.3 points per game this season. Jaylen Harris had 16 points in the game and the guard leads USC Salkahatchie this season with 18.6 points per game.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to South Georgia State College on Dec. 13-14 for one final weekend of games before the holidays.
