Andres Burney named NJCAA Basketball Player of the Week

Eastern Florida State College men's basketball player Andres Burney has been named the NJCAA Division I Basketball Player of the Week on Wednesday.

The sophomore forward from Brundidge, Alabama scored 30 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in a victory against Polk State College on Saturday.

Burney is averaging 16.7 points and 10 rebounds per game in 16 games this season and Saturday was his eighth double-double of the season. His 10 rebounds per game is second in the state and he is shooting 63.2 percent from the floor which is third in the state. He is ranked in the top 33 in both categories in the nation.

Burney is the first men's basketball player to win national player of the week since Kareem Brewton in 2016-17.
