Nick Alves named Region VIII Player of the Week

Eastern Florida State College men's basketball player Nick Alves was named the NJCAA Region VIII Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Alves helped the Titans to a 3-0 week, averaging 19 points and six rebounds per game in the three wins. The redshirt-sophomore from Melbourne has scored at least 14 points in each of the past five games.

Alves was also named to the first team all-Central Conference this week.

It is the first time Alves has been named the state player of the week this season.

The Titans will host Central Pointe Academy at 8 p.m. Wednesday night and then Time to Ball Prep Friday at 4 p.m. to wrap up the regular season. The Central Conference champions will compete in the FCSAA State Tournament next week in Niceville.
