Baseball team opens conference series on the road Thursday
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will open a Citrus Conference series with Indian River State College on Thursday
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will open a Citrus Conference series with Indian River State College on Thursday.
The Titans, who are 6-12 in the conference standings, will travel to Indian River State College for the first game of a three-game series at 5 p.m.
Indian River State College is 8-10 in the conference and have lost two in a row heading into the series. Niko Benestad comes into the series hitting .380 while teammate Andy Schroeder has eight home runs and has driven in 32 runs for The River.
Javi Miranda is scheduled to start the first game and is coming off a stellar outing against Polk State College where he tossed six shutout innings, allowing just three hits.
Eastern Florida State College is led by Andrew Prieto who is hitting .379 with a couple of home runs. Teammate Bryce Jackson is hitting .324 and has driven in a team-leading 31 runs.
The teams will return to Bruce Bochy Field on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Admission is free to the doubleheader and fans can watch the games live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
