Baseball team opens series Thursday at No. 6 FSW
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will begin a Citrus Conference series with sixth-ranked Florida Southwestern on Thursday
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will begin a Citrus Conference series with sixth-ranked Florida Southwestern on Thursday.
The Titans, who are 6-6 in the conference, will travel to Florida Southwestern for the series opener at 3 p.m. The Bucs will come to Bruce Bochy Field on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
Florida Southwestern State College comes into the series 9-3 and come into the series hitting .366 which is second in the FCSAA and 10th in the nation. The Bucs are tied for the state lead in home runs with 46 and their 275 runs is second in the FCSAA.
Offensively they are led by the duo of Cris Walley and Aiden Talarico who are both among the state leaders in home runs and RBI. Walley has 11 home runs and has driven in 34 runs while Talarico has 10 home runs and 38 RBI. Teammate Jonah St. Antoine is hitting .436 this season which is fourth in the state.
Eastern Florida State College is led by Bryce Jackson, who was named the FCSAA Division I Player of the Week on Monday. Jackson was 6-for- 14 last week with nine runs scored, seven RBI and two stolen bases as the Titans won two of three against Hillsborough. The sophomore is hitting .316 with 26 RBI this season.
Parker Trowbridge is second in the FCSAA in earned run average with a 2.86 and picked up his third win on Saturday.
