Baseball team splits Saturday, wins series with Hillsborough
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team split a doubleheader with Hillsborough Community College on Saturday to win the Citrus Conference series

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team split a doubleheader on Saturday to win the series.
The Titans, who improved to 6-6 in the Citrus Conference, defeated Hillsborough Community College 7-6 in the first game and then fell 9-8 in the second game at Bruce Bochy Field.
Eastern Florida State College scored first in the bottom of the third inning when Bryce Jackson hit a triple, scoring Chris Carroll for a 1-0 lead. Jackson would then score on a wild pitch to give the Titans a 2-0 lead.
Hillsborough would tie the game 2-2 in the top of the fourth inning but the Titans would retake the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning as Bryce Jackson singled, scoring Carroll.
Jackson would come up with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning and ripped a double to center field, scoring all three base runners and give the Titans a 7-2 lead.
The Hawks would make one more run as Zacharias Walker hit a three-run home run to cut the Titans lead to 7-6.
Breylynn Courtney came in and got the final out to secure the win.
Jackson finished 3-for-4 with five RBI and scored twice.
Starting pitcher Parker Trowbridge allowed two runs over four innings, striking out three.
In the second game, Hillsborough Community College took a 4-0 lead in the third inning but the Titans would strike back with three runs.
Hillsborough would take an 8-3 lead with four runs in the fourth inning.
The Titans would strike back once again with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Andrew Prieto hit a two-run double and then scored on Ethan Askin's single to make it 8-6. Iziah Santiago would single, scoring Askin.
Guinn would hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to tie the game 8-8.
But Hillsborough would take the lead back on a Chase Conti single.
Jackson, Prieto and Guinn each had two hits in the game.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Florida Southwestern for a Citrus Conference series beginning Thursday.
