Baseball team shows off power in road conference game
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team hit five home runs to pick up a Citrus Conference win over Hillsborough Community College on the road Thursday
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team hit five home runs to pick up a Citrus Conference win on the road Thursday.
The Titans, who improved to 5-5 in the conference, had a big day at the plate to defeat Hillsborough Community College 20-4 in five innings at the Himes Complex.
Up2-1 after one inning, Sage Adams led off the second inning with a solo home run as the Titans would score twice in the inning and lead 4-2 after two innings
Andrew Prieto stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and hit a grand slam in the third inning to break the game open. Eastern Florida State College scored six times in the inning and led 10-2 after three innings.
But it did not end there as Jackson Wargo hit a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning and then Hutson Guinn hit a two-run homer later in the inning as the Titans led 17-2.
Shane Thomas homered in the fifth inning to make it 19. Thomas finished with four hits with three RBI while Prieto was 3-for-4 with five RBI while Wargo was 3-for-3 with four RBI and scored three times.
Aiden Schwartz picked up the win for the Titans.
The series will come to Bruce Bochy Field on Saturday for a doubleheader against Hillsborough Community College beginning at 1 p.m. Admission is free and fans can watch the doubleheader live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
