Former Eastern Florida State College baseball pitcher Brian Walters was selected in the eighth round of the Major League Baseball Draft on Monday
Former Eastern Florida State College baseball pitcher Brian Walters was selected in the eighth round of the Major League Baseball Draft on Monday.
The former Titan and University of Miami pitcher was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies with the 251st pick.
Walters started 11 games in the 2021-22 season for the Titans posting a 3-3 record with a 3.99 ERA in 49 23 innings. He struck out 53 hitters and had a 9.60 k per nine rate.
The Grant native from Bayside High moved on to the University of Miami where he pitched for three seasons and struck out 80 in 66 innings. Last season he became the closer for the Hurricanes with 11 saves in 51 innings.
Walters becomes the 66th Eastern Florida State College player drafted in Major League Baseball and first since 2023 when his brother Andrew Walters and Drew Cavanaugh were both drafted.
