Baseball team falls Saturday, reaches postseason for first time in eight years
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team punched their ticket to the postseason on Saturday, clinching a spot in the play-in game on Tuesday

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team punched their ticket to the postseason on Saturday, clinching a spot in the play-in game on Tuesday.
The Titans lost both games Saturday against Miami Dade College and is in sixth place at the end of the Citrus Conference schedule. Eastern Florida State College lost the first game 3-2 and then the second game 11-2 in eight innings.
It is the first time since the 2016-17 season that the Titans have made the postseason.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Miami Dade got on the board first in the second inning when Denixon Suarez hit an RBI single. In the fourth inning the Titans took the lead when Shane Thomas hit a bouncing ball over first base to drive in two runs.
The lead would not last long as Talan Beckford had an RBI single to tie the game in the top of the fifth inning. It would remain tied until the top of the seventh inning when David Zamora scored on a wild pitch.
In Game 2, Bryce Jackson drove in Kevin Smith in the top of the first inning to give the Titans a 1-0 lead.
In the second inning, Jendy Gonzalez hit a two-run single to give the Sharks a 2-1 lead. The Titans tied it up with Gustavo Mendez doubled and scored on Ryan Cerrone's single.
Tied 2-2, the Sharks took the lead for good in the fifth inning with two runs. They would add a run in the seventh inning to lead 5-2 before sending 12 runners to the plate in the eighth inning. The big blow came from Beckford who hit a grand slam.
Eastern Florida State College will play Pensacola State College in the play-in game at St. Johns River on Tuesday.
