The Eastern Florida State College baseball team is off to the program's best start in over a decade, defeating Wallace Community College-Dothan at the Visit Panama City Beach College Baseball Classic on Saturday.
It is the first of two games for the Titans who will play Chipola College this evening. The Titans won 9-0 for the second straight day and are now 6-0 on the season.
Eastern Florida State College's Kevin Smith led the game off with a single, then stole both second and third, scoring on a fielder's choice.
Bo Tabola would walk in the third inning and Ryan Cerrone crushed a 1-0 fastball for his first home run of the season to give the Titans a 3-0 lead.
That was more than enough for starting pitcher Nathan Hook who tossed four shutout innings, allowing just one hit and struck out six.
Jacob Goldman would take over and have two scoreless innings before Landon Moore pitched the seventh.
Already leading 3-0, the Titans opened the game up in the top of the seventh inning with six runs highlighted by a two-run single by Ethan Askin.
Smith and Askin each had two hits in the game. The Titans stole nine bases in the game as Smith had four and Bo Tabola had three.
