Baseball team travels to Indian River Thursday

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will open its Citrus Conference series with Indian River State College on Thursday.

The Titans, who are 5-4 in the conference, will travel to Indian River State College for the first game of the three-game series Thursday at 5 p.m. Eastern Florida State College has won six straight games and is coming off of a sweep against Seminole State College.

Zaylen Perry will make his second start of the season on Thursday. The redshirt-sophomore from Winter Haven is coming off a six-inning shutout against Seminole State and has a 5.50 ERA and is 1-1 on the season.

Indian River State College is also 5-4 in the conference and lost two of three to Santa Fe College last week. The Pioneers are hitting .326 this season which is fifth in Region 8.

The two teams are both in the top five in team ERA as Indian River State College comes into the series with a 3.73 ERA and the Titans have a 4.12 ERA.

Eastern Florida State College is led by Adrian Dominguez who is hitting .359 this season with nine doubles and two home runs. He has driven in 23 RBI.

The two teams will meet in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Bruce Bochy Field beginning at noon.
