The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will open the regular season this weekend at Bruce Bochy Field.
The Titans will open the season with a three-game series against South Georgia State College. The first game is Friday at 2:30 p.m. with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon.
Adrian Dominguez and Carlos Cordero return after being named to the All-Southern Conference team in their freshmen season. Cordero hit .348 last season in 44 games while Dominguez hit .315 in 40 games. They are among a good core group returning along with the addition of several transfers that will make their Titans debut this weekend.
"It is an entirely new group. We only return four guys from last year's group, and we brought in a bunch of transfers, a bunch of talented freshmen," Eastern Florida State baseball coach Steven Brown said. "Carlos Cordero solidified the middle infield spot last year, Adrian Dominguez hits in the middle of the order, Brady Strelitz plays third base and Anthony Cordero is our sole pitcher returning. He is going to solidify the back end for us. We brought in guys from all over, they will get an opportunity right off the bat."
South Georgia State College is coming off a 37-win season last year and returns one of the best hitters last season in Kyle Shivers who hit .417 in 50 games.
Admission to Bruce Bochy Field is free and Friday's game will be broadcast live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
