Baseball team home Wednesday for start of series with Indian River State College
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will host Indian River State College Wednesday in the first game of a weekend series
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will begin a three-game Southern Conference series with Indian River State College Wednesday.
The Titans, who are 17-20 overall and 2-7 in the Southern Conference, will host Indian River State College in Game 1 of the series Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field.
Eastern Florida State College will send Trey Jackson to the mound. The right-hander is making his second start of the season and has a 2.64 ERA in 16 appearances.
Indian River State College comes into the series 23-11 overall and 3-6 in the conference. The Pioneers have lost two straight and five of the past six heading into the series.
Indian River comes into the series hitting a state-best .332 as a team and is led by Romeo Sanabria who is hitting .438 which is second in the state. Teammate Ryne Guida is third in runs batted in with 47 this season.
The Titans will combat that with one of the best pitching staffs in the state with a team ERA of 3.69 which is second to Florida Southwestern in the state.
Admission to Wednesday's game is free at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne campus. The game will also be live streamed on the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
Game 2 of the series will be Friday night at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, the spring training home of the New York Mets. Friday's game will start at 5 p.m. The final game of the series will be Saturday at 1 p.m. back at Bruce Bochy Field.
