Dentmon, Fisher homer in road loss to Indian River State College
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team lost a tight game with Indian River State College to tie the series 1-1 heading into the weekend
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team fell short against Indian River State College in a Southern Conference game Wednesday afternoon on the road.
The Titans lost 5-4 as the Pioneers tied the series 1-1 heading into the weekend.
Down 2-0, Titans catcher Kyle Dentmon drove in Kaeber Rog with a double to get the Titans on the board in the fourth inning. Then in the top of the sixth, Dentmon hit a two-run home run to give the Titans a 3-2 lead. It was Dentmon's fourth home run of the season.
But the lead would not last as the Pioneers rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Indian River State College would add a run in the seventh and it proved to be the winning run.
Because in the eighth inning Lake Fisher hit a solo home run to cut the Pioneers lead to 5-4. It was Fisher's 11th home run of the season which is the most by an Eastern Florida State College hitter in the past 20 seasons. The 11 home runs tied the career mark of former Titan Elian Merejo in 2016-17.
Dentmon had two hits and drove in three runs while Fisher scored twice in the game. Starting pitcher Tyler Vogel took the loss, allowing four runs in 5 1/3 innings, striking out four.
The Titans will travel to Indian River State College for the third game of the series Friday evening before coming back to Bruce Bochy Field for the final game of the series Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
