Lugo hits inside the park grand slam to help Titans win in 10
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team beat Miami-Dade in 10 innings and will go for the series sweep on Saturday in Miami
Eastern Florida State College freshman Steven Lugo hit an inside the park grand slam home run to help the Titans beat Miami-Dade 9-5 in 10 innings Friday in a Southern Conference matchup on the road.
Lugo came up with the bases loaded and drilled a 2-0 pitch to left-center field. Once it got past the centerfielder, he was off to the races and beat the throw home for an inside the park home run, scoring Austin Bates, Brandon Marsh and Kevin Silva.
The Titans were down 5-3 heading to the ninth inning, but Dilan Espinal and Alvaro Valdez drove in runs to tie the game.
From there Michael Entenza put up zeroes to get his second win for the Titans.
Eastern Florida State College has gone to extra innings in the past three games and has won two of them. The Titans will go for the series sweep against Miami-Dade on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. and Pablo Barquero Jackson is scheduled to start.
