Big weekend ahead for volleyball team

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team will host a big day of volleyball Saturday at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

The Titans come into the weekend 6-1 on the season and will get the day started against the Florida State College of Jacksonville at 11 a.m. and then finish the day against Santa Fe who was No. 16 in the nation in the preseason poll at 5 p.m.

"Both matches will be good tests for our team," Eastern Florida State College volleyball coach Andrea Rasmussen said. "We were able to see both teams during the preseason but we have all had two weeks of competition under our belt now."

Santa Fe will play Indian River State College in the second game of the day at 1 p.m. and then Indian River State will face FSC-Jacksonville at 3 p.m.

"We usually host a tri-match early in the season and this year it just grew," Rasmussen said. "It is always great to host teams that will give us a challenge as we prepare for the most important part of our season, which is the conference."

The Titans moved to the Mid-Florida Conference this season with Daytona State, the College of Central Florida, Polk State and Lake Sumter.

Admission to Saturday's games at Titan Field House are free.
