For the second straight year, the Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team heads to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament as the No. 6 seed.
The Titans come into the tournament 28-5 this season and were runner-up in the Region VIII Men's Basketball Championships in Ocala last weekend. Three teams are heading to the national tournament from the Region VIII tourney.
"We are so excited to get back to Hutch," said Eastern Florida State College men's basketball coach Jeremy Shulman who is heading to the national tournament for the third straight season. "The guys have worked hard this season and deserve the chance to play for a national championship."
The Titans will receive a bye in the first round as one of the top eight seeds, facing the winner of the No. 11 Indian Hills-No. 22 Monroe College game on Wednesday night at 9 p.m. EST.
"There are so many outstanding teams and coaches there and our side of the bracket is no different," Shulman said. "Indian Hills is a traditional power who is one of the best programs in the country and we know how good Monroe College out of New York is. We are excited to get prepared and give everything we have out there."
The Titans defeated Monroe College 65-55 in New York Dec. 3.
The tournament begins Monday with the semifinals slated for Friday and the final Saturday at 8 p.m.
